Strengthening Advocacy for Adult Vaccination: Advocacy Toolkit and Guide
Adult vaccination is an important component of healthy ageing, helping to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases, preserve independence, and reduce avoidable pressure on health systems. Yet across Canada, gaps in funding, access, and policy coherence continue to contribute to uneven protection, particularly among older adults and people living with chronic conditions.
Civil society and patient advocacy organizations have an important role in bringing the experiences and needs of communities into immunisation policy and advocating for more comprehensive and equitable access to adult vaccination.
To support this role, the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) developed the Strengthening Advocacy for Adult Vaccination Toolkit as a practical resource to strengthen civil society capacity and support more informed, coordinated advocacy for adult vaccination in Canada. The Toolkit includes aligned key messages, ready-to-use communication materials, advocacy templates, and practical guidance to help organizations identify and engage decision-makers and participate effectively in policy dialogue.
