Fundación Centro de Estudios Infectológicos/Foundation Center for Infectious Disease Studies (FUNCEI) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, focused on research and on medical and community education. Based in Argentina since 1987 and headed by Daniel Stamboulian MD, FUNCEI works with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement an integral model to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, and has been recognized with the 2015 Carlos Slim Health Award as an Outstanding Institution.
Through its Adult Vaccination Working Group FUNCEI has developed educational programs and awareness campaigns aimed at health care professionals and the community that includes: local and international symposia and congresses; distance-learning education; weekly grounds on ID, courses and workshops and training in applied ID for residents and medical students; brochures and newsletters; print and digital guides; articles on institutional media, press releases and social media. Also, FUNCEI has agreements with the Argentinean Society of Gerontology and Geriatric (SAGG) and works with ILC-Argentina, among others.
